Cancellation of membership
To cancel your membership or put your membership on hold, please email us or talk to one of our librarians to ensure we have a record of it.
NB: Membership fees are non-refundable.
Borrowing toys
Toys are issued for two weeks, though you may return these after one week if you so wish. You can borrow up to 10 toys at a time. Toys remain the property of Island Bay Toy Library.
Please return borrowed toys on time, to be fair to our other members. You can renew a toy up to two times at no cost. We will start charging a late fee after toys are not returned after six weeks.
Toys must be returned clean and in good condition.
What if toys are lost or damaged?
Please notify us if there are missing or broken parts when you return the toy.
If the missing pieces are essential to the functioning of the toy, we will ask that you re-issue the toy for a further two weeks to locate the missing pieces in that time. This gives us the best chance of keeping the toy complete.
After that time, the charge for lost, damaged, broken or incomplete toys is usually $10. However, losing pieces or damaging the toy to the extent the toy is unusable may mean you are asked to pay the replacement cost of the toy.
There is nothing worse than getting a toy home and discovering it doesn’t work or has missing pieces. If this happens, let us know so we can repair the toy or try and locate the missing pieces.
Stocktake
On the last session of each year (in mid-December), we hold our annual stocktake.
All hired toys need to be returned by this morning.
There is a lot of stock to get through and we couldn’t complete this without the support of our members.

At the close of the stocktake, to say thank you to members that do come down and help, you can choose an outdoor toy to take home over the summer holidays during our closed period free of charge.
